Ruby N. Wagner, age 97, of Elizabethton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Wagner was born in Ashe County, a daughter of the late Grover C. and Mollie Greene Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amon D. Wagner, who was killed in combat in the Battle of the Bulge on Dec. 19, 1944. Mrs. Wagner retired from Raymond’s restaurant and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her sisters, Helen Ross of Elizabethton, Lucy Waugh of North Wilkesboro, N.C. and Lib Hartzog of Millers Creek, N.C.; brother, Paul Norris of Lansing, N.C.; special nieces and nephews, Mary Beth Yurconic, Mark Ross, Mary Norris, Billy Norris, Jackie Norris, Ronnie Norris, David Norris, Debbie Shepard, and Danny Norris; and special caregiver and friend, Willetta Ridley. She also survived by her many friends at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The graveside service will follow in the mausoleum Chapel of Peace in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Clarence Phillips.
Mrs. Wagner requested no flowers to be sent. In lieu of flowers, make donations to a mission of your choice or to your local church.
