Ruth Little Greene, 86, Life Care Center of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2012, following a very lengthy illness.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Roy Porter & Mary Treadway Little.

She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and East Tennessee State College with a degree in Elementary Education.

Ruth was retired from the Carter County School System after 30 years teaching Elementary students. She was an avid quilter, loved to read and before becoming disabled was known for her passion of growing and showing her beautiful roses.

She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton and a lifetime member of the East Tennessee Chapter of the EX-POW’S and an avid supporter of this organization.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty three years, William Thomas Greene; two sons: infant Clyde Allen Greene and Howard Thomas Greene; two brothers: Howard Little & Austin Little; and two sisters: Shirley Cox and Margaret Arney.

Survivors include a daughter: Brenda Greene Brewer, Elizabethton; A Grandson: Daniel Edward Greene, Limestone; A Brother: Jack Little, Keller, Texas; and Two Sisters: Kathryn Greene, Elizabethton, and Geraldine Lowe, Butler. Also Three Sisters-In-Law: Peggy Greene, Burke, Virginia, Blanche Hill and Velma Clemons, both of Elizabethton; Several Nieces & Nephews. Her best friends and part of her extended family, Selma Roberts and family, of Kingsport, and Geraldine Hodge, Elizabethton.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2012, in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Wayne Carr officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
