Ruth Ruble McAmis, 86, Elizabethton, moved forward to her heavenly home Monday, May 7, 2012, in the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness, where she will be welcomed by her Heavenly Father; her parents: James Hunter & Maude Irene Browning Ruble; brother & sister-in-law: Curtis & Jean Ruble; sisters: Helen Jones, Marie Foster; and brothers-in-law, Boyd Foster and Jack Bradley, along with many other family members and dear friends.

Ruth had been a member of Immanuel Baptist Church since 1961. She was a member of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class and the W.M.U. She had taught the Children’s Sunday School Class and Vacation Bible School.

Ruth was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having graduated from Herman Robinson School of Nursing in 1968. She worked at McKee-Wilson Eye Hospital, which later became Johnson City Eye, Ear & Nose Hospital and retired after 20 years of service.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother with special love and kindness for family and friends which will truly be missed. She enjoyed her rose garden, sewing, canning & keeping a perfect house.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years: Jack McAmis; A son: Tim McAmis and Wife, Dee; Daughter: Libby Johnson and husband, Victor; Grandchildren: Leslie Johnson, Dana McAmis, Matt Johnson and fiancé, Alyson Smith; Great granddaughter: Emelia Johnson; Sisters: Geraldine Bradley, Jonesborough, Maude Cutshaw & husband, Robert, Greeneville; brother-in-law: J.W. Jones, Jonesborough; along with many nieces & nephews. Ruth is also survived by her special friend: Wynona Holland.

The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Minister Travis Biller officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, will be: Matt Johnson, Steve Rhea, Danny Ruble, Gerald Jones, Rusty Bradley, Jacob Smith and Mike Lingerfelt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Her Church Family.

The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the service hour Saturday.
