Ruth T. “Granny†Rogers Whitaker, 77, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James Christopher and Mamie Edens Price. She was a homemaker. She was of the Christian Faith.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: Kirby Price; and an infant brother, JC Price.
Survivors include her husband: Franky Whitaker; Four Daughters: Mary Presnell and husband, Ray, and Sandra Honeycutt and husband, Ronnie, all of Johnson City, Debbie Webb and husband, Stanley, Watauga, and Jean Fitzgerald and her late husband, Tommy, of Gray; One Son & Daughter-in-law: Robert Bill & Ronnie Rogers, Elizabethton; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; Several step-brothers & sisters; Two Sisters: Elizabeth Cottle and her late husband, Delma, Wilmington, North Carolina, and Sandra Range and her husband, Jerry, Elizabethton; Several Nieces, Nephews & Cousins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ken Bewley officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, will be: Stanley Webb, Nathan Rogers, Jamie Rogers, Chad Brockwell, Joseph Cottle, Jim Clark, Ronnie Honeycutt and Ronnie Honeycutt Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ray Presnell, Jerry Range and Chris Range.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
