Sheila Guinn

The Lord called Sheila E. Guinn, 57, Elizabethton, home Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at her residence.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sherman E. and Laura Mary Persinger Watson. She was a 1972 graduate of Happy Valley High School and was retired from the Carter County School System, having worked 15 plus years as a substitute teacher and aide.

Sheila was a member of the Roan Street Church of God, but currently was not attending. She also attended the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City. She loved sewing, gardening and enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and family.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Ronnie Guinn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Christopher Nelson, Watauga, and Shea and Caleb Gilmer, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Luke, Claire, and Ellis Gilmer, and Caden and Riley Nelson; five sisters and four brothers-in law, Sharon and Buck Slagle, Shavonne and Eddie Roberts, Sarae and Wes Williams, and Shirley Young, all of Elizabethton and Sherry and Edward Dean Estep, Kingsport. several nieces and nephews also survive,

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ken Bewley officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be sons-in-law and brothers-in-law. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sheila Guinn Memorial Fund to help children at need to Range Elementary School, Attn: Sherry Shepard, 655 Watauga Road, Watauga, Tn. 37694. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:20 p.m. Friday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to mfc@chartertn.net.
