Sylvia Guy, age 87, of Elizabethton passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Elizabethton, following an extended illness. She was a daughter of the late Riley and Emma Jane Church Clawson and was born in Cass County, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Church and one nephew, Michael Church. Mrs. Guy was a retired teacher and was the past owner of Princess Motel in Maryville, TN. She also worked at Fischer Body Company in Detroit. Mrs. Guy was a member of the Elizabethton Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-six years, Alvin Guy, Elizabethton; one daughter, Linda Cloutier and her husband, Harold, Elizabethton; two grandsons, Matthew Cloutier and his wife, Stephanie, Clarkston, MI; Mark Cloutier and his wife, Gina, Grand Blanc, MI; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Cristine Cloutier.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Roby Ellis, Minister and Mr. Eddy Craft, Minister officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM prior to the service in the funeral home chapel.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 9:15 AM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
