image Tanner Lee Perkins, 20, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012, as the results of an automobile accident.

Tanner was a 2010 graduate of Elizabethton High School and was a Junior at East Tennessee State University. He had been employed for the past four summers at the Fish Springs Marina.

Tanner was a member of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Kim Monteith Perkins, Elizabethton; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Perkins and the late Leroy Perkins, Elizabethton; his maternal grandparents, Linda Hodges and the late Dave Hodges, Deland, Fla., and Don Monteith and wife Brenda, Bluff City; his maternal great-grandmothers, Ermal Monteith and the late Carl Monteith, Bristol, Va., and Elsie Thompson and the late Jack Thompson, Bluff City; and his aunts and uncles, Darlene Perkins, Benji and Stella Perkins, Elonza and Kristi Perkins, India and Mike Powell, Wayne and Melissa Hodges and Nate Monteith and fiancé Jessica Melton. Several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services for Tanner will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 16, at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Music will be provided by the Praise Choir. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 17, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, and at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday, will be Tanner James, Jordan Vanhoy, Clayton Hardin, Matthew Day, Ethan Gouge, Grey Hooten, Kolby Evans and Michael Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas White and employees and customers of Fish Springs Marina, The Elizabethton High School Class of 2010, Bryce Crum and Austin Crum. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. Friends may also visit at the residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Tanner to the Youth Group, Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
