Teresa Renee Byrd Reeves, 51, Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville from a heart attack after a brief illness.
A native of Elizabethton, Teresa lived most of her life in the Tri-Cities before relocating to Knoxville where she resided for the last approximately 20 years. A homemaker, Teresa enjoyed arts and crafts, listening to music and camping.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maynard Byrd; her maternal grandparents, Clyde and Ena Pierce; and her paternal grandparents, Jess and Edith Byrd.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Mike Reeves; three sons, Alan Jack Simerly, Joseph “Joey” Byrd and Martin Winters; and her parents, Ann and Ray Oaks. She was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, Jackson, Jayden, Isaac and Payton. She is also survived by seven siblings, Keith Byrd, Julie Oaks Smith, Randy Oaks, Debbie Oaks Hicks, Mike Oaks, Teresa Oaks VonCannon and Mark Oaks; three aunts, Phyllis Ensor, Patricia Tigner and Patricia Vest; three uncles, Fred “Diz” Pierce, Alvin Byrd and Kenneth Byrd; and two special cousins, Kim Gouge and Michael Hardin. Teresa also was the great-niece of Lawrence and Letha Ritchie, Anna Ruth Cole and Georgia May Hyder.
The funeral service for Teresa Renee Byrd Reeves will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, at Tetrick Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the service hour. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
