Tevis Beatrice Cole Cochrane, 94, of Claysville, PA, formerly of Johnson City, and Boca Raton, FL, died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, January 1, 2012, in Washington Hospital, Washington, PA. Most recently, she resided at Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington, PA.
She was born August 19, 1917, in McRoberts, KY, daughter of James Anderson and Myrtle Mae Prichard Cole. She was a member of Munsey Memorial Methodist Church, Johnson City, and a former member of First Methodist Church, Boca Raton.
Mrs. Cochrane graduated from Milligan College, Johnson City, in 1941, received her master’s degree in mathematics education from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, in 1967, and was a math teacher in elementary and secondary schools. She also sold real estate, later in Florida, up until she was 80 years old. She was a member of the Society of Business and Professional Women, Delray, FL, and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading and sewing. On December 17, 1940, at Milligan College, she married Frazier Cochrane III, who died April 22, 2002.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are two brothers, Culver Anderson Cole and Russell Cole, and a sister, Marietta Cole Cox.
Surviving are son Frazier (Barbara Jean) Cochrane IV of Lighthouse Point, FL; daughter Patricia Ann (George M.) Hanes of Claysville, PA; sister Wilma Jean Manker of Roswell, GA., who is the last surviving of five children; four grandchildren, Frazier (Colleen) Cochrane V, Stephen Nicholas (Diane) Cochrane, Teresa Mae Allen (Nikolai) Kerry and Arthur Reeg (Jennifer) Allen III; nine great-grandchildren, Tara, Melissa and Matthew Cochrane, Lynn (Brett) Morris, Stephen Cochrane and Kyle Clarkston, Lana and Emma Allen, and Helen Kerry; and three great-great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Lillian, and Gabriel.
Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, January 2 in Michael H. Heinrich Funeral Home, Claysville, PA. Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, with the Rev. Patricia Donahoo of Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Indianapolis, IN, and the Rev. Stephen Smythers of Taylorstown Christian Church co-officiating. Interment will take place in Happy Valley Memorial Park, on Tuesday, January 10, at 2:00 PM. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:55 pm on Tuesday for the graveside service.
