image Thomas Lynn Adams, 65, of Elizabethton, was called home Monday, July 30, 2012, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

Tommy was a native of Carter County and the son of the late James Thurman and Wanda McKeehan Adams.

Tommy was a 1965 graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended East Tennessee State University and Steed Business College. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Tet Offensive Era, where he received the rank of Sergeant. He had been a member of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church since 1957. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238, Scottish Rite, Knoxville, The American Legion Post #49 and the D.A.V.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Robin Pendergrass Adams; two daughters, Melissa Adams, Elizabethton, and Victoria Evans and her husband Casey, Davis Monathan Air Force Base, Tucson, Ariz., and a special daughter, Shirlene Turbyfill, Elizabethton; a son, Kevin Adams, United States Coast Guard, Staten Island, N.Y.; one uncle, Jerry Adams and his wife Sharon, Kingsport; one aunt, Dorothy Ruth “BG” Clement, Johnson City; his mother-in-law, Joyce Pendergrass, Fall Branch; a brother-in-law, Scott and his wife Donna Pendergrass, Bristol; a nephew, Clay Pendergrass; and his two puppy babies, Elizabeth and Louis, and Buddy the cat.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Thomas Lynn Adams will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson, the Rev. Victor Wallace and Minister Scott Pendergrass officiating. Music will be provided by the Carr Family. The graveside service and interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 3, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:50 a.m. Friday, will be Jeff Clement, Mark Clement, John Clement, Mike Clement, Clay Pendergrass, Leonard Cross, Vicki Harrison and Jerry Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Little, Steve Self, Ed Eckerling, Freddy Holly and Charles Weatherly. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit at the residence. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Tom to the Youth Ministries of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church, 1503 Riverview Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to Rolling Thunder, P.O. Box 220, Mountain Home, TN 37684. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:50 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
