Todd M. Walker, 48 of Johnson City passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Todd was a native of and life long resident of Carter County. He is the son of Anna B. Walker, Johnson City and the late Monte Walker. Todd was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton where he had served as deacon and also helped on the audio and kitchen committees. He was a graduate of Happy Valley High School and a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He was an employee of Owens and Minor Company as a Customer Support Specialist. He also valued the years he spent working with the Elizabethton Twins Organization. He loved sports and thoroughly enjoyed coaching and watching his boys in whatever they participated in and enjoyed playing golf and basketball.
In addition to his father, Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul R. and Evelyn Walker and Monte and Rosa Buck. Uncles, David “Poag†Buck and Gomer Blevins and an aunt, Liz Fisher.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife; Cindy Oliver Walker, of the home, sons; Andrew and Cory of the home, father-in-law and mother-in-law; Wayne and Lillian Oliver, Johnson City, brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Rick and Tammie Wilson of Alcoa, TN, nephew; Dustin Wilson and his spouse, Lisa of Elizabethton, niece, Abigail Wilson, Alcoa, TN. He is also survived by aunts; June Pritchard and spouse, Sherman, Montezuma, NC, Barbara Buck and Joanne Blevins both of Johnson City, uncle; Paul Walker and spouse, Edie, Chattanooga, TN. Several cousins also survive all of whom were very special to him.
The funeral service for Mr. Walker will be conducted at 8 PM, Monday, February 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Elizabethton, with Rev. Brent Seals and Dr. Jim Royston officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, from 5:30 PM till 8 PM prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Rick Wilson, Dale Lynch, Richard Myers, Eric Bowers, John Hutchins and Mike Wiggins. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are ask to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM on Tuesday.
