Turner Stout Triplett

image Turner “Fizz” Triplett, 96, 1949 Dave Buck Road, Johnson City, Tenn., and formerly of Old Butler, Tenn., passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Lakebridge Health Care Center, Johnson City, after an extended illness.

He was born in Johnson County, Tenn., on April 20, 1915, a son of the late William and Edna Shoemaker Triplett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Alta Louise Cable Triplett; two brothers, Hillard Triplett and Glasco Triplett; an infant brother; a sister, Fay Isaacs; and a grandson, Andrew Triplett.

Mr. Triplett was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 F&AM, where he was a 33rd degree mason, and the Jericho Shriners. He enjoyed farming.

He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Triplett retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 45 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and had attended Oakland Avenue Baptist Church in Johnson City.

Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Baines and husband, Allen, Johnson City, and Linda Hagan and husband, Glenn, of Michigan; three sons, Barry Triplett and wife, Tyonnia, Harry Triplett and Michael Triplett, all of Johnson City; a sister, Mildred Triplett, Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special caretakers, daughter, Teresa Baines, and granddaughter, Joanna Edwards. The family would like to express a special thank you to Lakebridge Health Care Center and Mountain States Hospice for all the love and care shown to Mr. Triplett during his illness. The family would also like express a special thank you to his special caregivers, Kenny Edwards and Mary Elkins, for the love and care shown to Fizz during his illness.

The funeral service for Mr. Triplett will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 29, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Yelton and Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kelvin Lester. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral service. Friends may also call at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Edwards, James Edwards, Billy Triplett, Allen Baines, Andrew Baines, Chris Dulaney, Jimmy Byington and Kelvin Lester. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Garland and Marvin McKinney. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday.
