ELIZABETHTON — Virginia “Granny” Hodge White, 95, Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late William and Orpha Campbell Hodge. Granny was a retired employee of the Carter County School System she was a cook at the Hunter Elementary School for 28 years. After her retirement she worked for the Senior Citizens, delivering food for the shut-ins. She also drove the Senior Citizens Van Transporting people back and forth to the center. She was the Oldest Living Charter member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John White, Two Daughters: Margie Campbell and Wanda Davis, two sons-in-law: Fred Angel and Bob Davis, two grandsons: John Glenn Davis and Terry Davis, two Great Grandsons: Justin Stout and Brock Carrier, One Great Granddaughter: Heather Schultz, One Sister: Iva Lee Crouch and three brothers: Ivan, Lawton and Bill Hodge. Granny was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan. Survivors include Three Daughters: Peggy Reed and husband Bob, Morristown, Johnnie Piercy and husband Bud, Asheville, North Carolina and Linda Childers, Elizabethton. One Son: Steve White and wife Nan, Kingman, Arizona. Two Sons-In-Law: Alf Campbell and Roger Childers. 21 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 17 Great Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces & Nephews including a special nephew & niece: Mike and Mary Ann Hodge. Her special friends: Louise Puckett, Mike & Kathy Smith and Patsy McInturff. A Service to Celebrate the Life Of Virginia “Granny” White will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilson and Mr. Bob Reed officiating. Burial will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Ashley Ferguson, No Name But His, and William J. Greene. Active Pallbearers will be Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit the family at her residence. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Doctors and Nurses of the ICU, Sycamore Shoals Hospital for the excellent love and care that our mother received.
