image Wade Charles Sluder, 74, Elizabethton went on to Heaven to be with the Lord Saturday April 16, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by his family.

A lifelong resident of Carter County, he was a son of the late Wade Charles Sluder, Sr & Laura Francis Tolley Sluder. He was a retired Industrial Engineer from North American Rayon Corporation. Mr. Sluder was a member of the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army.

He loved to visit with the patients in nursing homes.

Survivors include his wife of thirty five years, Gail Ingram Sluder. A Daughter & Son-In-Law: Celena & Greg Whitehead, Hampton. A Son & Daughter-in-Law: Brent Charles & Kerrie Sluder, Johnson City. Six Grandchildren; Reece, Ethan, David, Evan, Sam and Seth. Two Sisters & Brothers-In-Law: Elizabeth & Reo Wolfgang, Rutherfordton, North Carolina and Patricia & Robert Ray, Elizabethton. Several Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 12 Noon Tuesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Music will be provided by Loren Harris, Megan Harsh and Rusty Pippin. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers with be the Mens Bible Class and the church family of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
