Waynie Thaxton Bowling Collins, 67, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, December 8, 2012, at her residence.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence “Buddy” & Evelyn Ruth Smith Bowling. She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant. Waynie was a member of the Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church and was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also an assistant Leader in the Girl Scouts.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister: Helen Ruth Hopson; and a special friend, the late Freeman “Hoover” Lewis.

Surviving are: Mary Bell Davis and husband, Joe, Buddy Bowling and friend, Cindy East, Kyle Bowling, Kristin Bowling and Michael Glover and family. Several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim Gouge officiating.

Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, all of her family and friends who have prayed for her during her illness.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
