Willia Mae Cecil

Willia Mae Adkins Cecil, 81, 630 Highway 91, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011. A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Lina Carver Adkins. Mrs. Cecil had lived in Columbia, S.C., for 34 years before returning to Elizabethton where she had lived most of her life. She was a retired sales person and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Cecil, in 1993; two sisters, Irene and Helen; and two brothers, Floyd and Junior.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Donnie Shumpert, of the home; two grandsons; several great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Georgia Carden, Elizabethton; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Sue Adkins, Mountain City, and Jimmy and Dale Adkins, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services for Mrs. Cecil will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Roy Adkins officiating. Friends may call at her residence.
