Georgia A. Ikerd, 98, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, in the Hillview Health Center, Elizabethton.
She was a native of Watauga County, North Carolina, but had lived most of her life in Carter County.
Mrs. Ikerd was the daughter of the late Lee & Jennie Gragg Moody. She was born January 29, 1914.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, R.R. Ikerd; and sisters: Snow Shouse, Zada Lowrance and Maxine Duncan, all of Elizabethton, and Pauline Byrd, of Newhall, California, and Hazel Favichio, New York, New York; one brother: Earl Moody, of Watauga County, North Carolina; also an infant grandson, George Brickey.
Mrs. Ikerd is survivied by her two daughters: Kathryn and husband, Tommy Brickey, and Denise & her husband, Phil Jones, both of Bluff City; Four Grandchildren: Kathy Hardin, John Brickey, of Kirkland, Washington, Elizabeth Abel, Boone, North Carolina, and Susan Martin, Keller, Texas; Two Step-Grandsons: Travis & Curtis Jones; four great grandchildren: Kaitlyn Brickey, Simon & Isaac Abel and Adelaide Martin.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton and the Philethes Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the current Mission Class and the Elizabethton Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Ikerd of a graduate of Elizabethton Business College. She worked in the City School System for several years. She loved gardening and each summer she looked forward to canning & preparing fruits and vegetables for freezing.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by her granddaughters: Elizabeth Abel and Susan Martin. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the wonderful staff of Hillview Health Center for love and care given our mother.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon Wednesday until the service hour.
