William G. “Bill” Skeans, 62, of Elizabethton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born January 14, 1950, a son of the late Gordon and Ellen Stout Skeans. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #622, in Watauga, and the Carter County Constable Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Morgan; and a brother, Cyril Skeans.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Judy Skeans; son, Michael Alan Skeans and wife Paula; grandchildren, Chasity Lynn Skeans and Mackenzie Grace Skeans; sisters, Elsie Sams and husband Danny and Margarat Fields and husband Ernest; brothers, Ed Skeans and wife Hattie Ruth and George Skeans and wife Dot; sister-in-law, Lavonna Skeans; brother-in-law, Harry Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Skeans will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Special music will be provided by Tammie Cole and Lisa Hilbert. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM prior to the funeral service or at the home at other times.

The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Chad Grindstaff, Jonathon Grindstaff, Wesley Bradley, Danny Simerly, Allen Rasnick and Shane Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Bradley, David Grindstaff, Danny Sams, Bobby Trivitte, David Guy and Richard Grindstaff. Everyone will meet at the Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services at 10:15 Wednesday morning to go in precession to the cemetery.
