William “Bill†Odom, 61, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Jack W. and Alice Margaret Nidiffer Odom. Bill was a 1968 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was employed as a Courier with the Wellmont Health Systems. He was a lifetime member of the Watauga Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a former member of the Carter County Car Club and the Slapping Leather Western Dance Association. Bill was a member of the Biltmore Baptist Church. He loved old cars, NASCAR & spending time with his granddaughter.
Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law: Craig & Whitney Odom, Elizabethton; His Granddaughter: Mallory; Two Sisters: Carole Odom, Cleveland, Ohio, and Charlotte Slusher and her husband, Bud, Kingsport; His nieces & nephews: Nina & Keith Ramey and Sonny & Lisa Slusher and Joe Slusher, all of Kingsport, Ronnie and Randy Minton, Cleveland, Ohio; His ex-wife and dear friend, Sharon Shouse; His special friends: Michael Shouse, Janie & Brian Henson, Roger & Claudia Ledford and Dave & Trish McKee, John Ashley; and his special cat, “Prissy.â€
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. James Lyons officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Music will be provided by David Foster, Soloist.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, will be; Jason Eggers, Thomas Norris, Mark Payne, Roger Ledford, Dave McKee, Michael Shouse, Benny Colbaugh, Sonny Slusher, Joe Slusher and Keith Ramey. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Members of the Watauga Volunteer Fire Department, Members of the Carter County Rescue Squad and members of the Carter County Car Club.
To those who prefer memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Odom to the Biltmore Baptist Church, 1181 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643 in lieu of flowers.
Friends may also call at the residence of his son & daughter-in-law: Craig & Whitney Odom. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery.
