Zella Marie Jones Stout, 89, of Elizabethton, formerly of the Big Spring Community, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Hermitage Health Center, where she had been a patient for the past six years.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James S. and Loma Taylor Jones.
Mrs. Stout was a member of the Big Spring Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Fred E. Stout, who passed away June 5, 2008; a sister, Ethel Chesser; and four brothers, Dana, Frank, Fred and Roger Jones.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Jerry Pearman, Johnson City, and Freida and Charles Oliver, Watauga; her grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia and Alan Collins, Johnson City, Lisa and Nathan Morrell, Kingsport, Wendy and Bill McKee, Knoxville, Victor and Becky Oliver, Elizabethton, and Susan and Andrew O’Neil, Johnson City; her great-grandchildren, Emily Collins Phillips, Jered Collins, Chance Morrell, Amber Morrell Greene, Jake Oliver, Paige Oliver, Kayla Burchfield and Lauren Burchfield; a great-great-granddaughter, Meadow Faith Phillips; her sisters-in-law, Mary Wittenbarger, Margaret Reynolds and Shirley Johnson; several nieces and nephews; and her special “Room Mate,†Elizabeth Davidson.
A graveside service for Mrs. Stout was conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The Rev. Randy Johnson and Pastor Bobby Stout officiated. Interment followed the service. Active pallbearers were her grandsons: Victor Oliver, Jake Oliver, Jered Collins, Chance Morrell, Alan Collins, Nathan Morrell, Bill McKee and Andrew O’Neal. The family would like to express a special “Thank You†to her caregivers, Patty Nave, Geraldine Edwards and Betty Simpson, the staff at Hermitage Health Care and Caris Hospice.
